« A JESSE MADE WITH TOGHU FABRIC, NOW AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM »
The promotion and safeguarding of our cultural heritage is at the heart of the activities and missions of the Ministry of Arts and Culture. The Honorable Minister spares no efforts in the encouragement and accompaniment of individuals, associations and communities who are determined to promote our cultural heritage in any of its forms: tangible or intangible.
It was therefore in this light that the Minister of Arts and Culture received in audience Mr Afowiri Kizito FONDZENYUY, a patriot from the North West region of Cameroon.
Mr. Afowiri is an athlete who has participated in many marathons. He is received by the Minister not as an athlete but because of his desire and passion for the promotion of our cultural heritage.
Mr Afowiri Kizito FONDZENYUY participated in the Tokyo Marathon in Japan in March 2, 2024; what was remarkable was his jesse made with the traditional regalia fabric,Toghu. This was an innovative and outstanding way of promoting that cultural fabric and that won him a world record for the fastest marathon run in traditional attire.
The Minister applauded such an initiative and innovation which has once again given an international admiration of the Toghu fabric. He highlighted that this was a percular way of promoting our cultural heritage.
