«ANOTHER GREAT FIGURE IN THE HISTORY OF CAMEROON
H.R.H. HAMAN LAWAL»

The Minister of Arts and Culture presided over the ceremony of the reception and placing of the portrait of HAMAN LAWAL amongst the great figures of the history of Cameroon.
Within the context of the operationalization of the national museum, August 2023 saw the inauguration of 3 major spaces at the national museum: unity space, the cultural diversity space and the space reserved for the great figures of the history of Cameroon.
The Minister of Arts and Culture in his unwavering commitment to the preservation of our cultural heritage and collective memory spares no efforts when opportunity rises to honor the memory of those who through their struggles, resisted colonial intrusion and violation of cultures and traditional practices.

After honoring the memories of some in August 2023, today was the turn of Haman LAWAL.

This 6th Lamido of Kalfou, who reigned from 1894-1902, did not only resist the Germans for the freedom of his people but particularly for the preservation of the lamibe tradition and the Cameroonian cultural identity.

The ceremony which took place at the front porch of the national museum have everyone the opportunity to appreciate the beauty in the portrait being handed over to the minister of Arts and Culture and thereafter placed in the space reserved for the great figures of the history of Cameroon.

the ceremony started with the Director of Cultural Heritage at MINAC presenting the man HAMAN Lawal and his exploits that have merited his portrait to be placed in the national museum.

The great grand son Yerima IBRAHIM ABDOULAHI held back no word of appreciation to the government through the MINAC for the honor given to the memory of their father.

The Minister of Arts and Culture in his speech encouraged the community to continue in the legacy left behind by this great figure particularly in the preservation of the cultural heritage and the Lamibé culture.

Isnebo and the national orchestra entertained the guests to sounds and rythmes from the 4 cultural areas of Cameroon.
